UPVC Replacement Door Handles
As time passes the handles on your doors will wear down and need to be changed. When doing this it is crucial that the new handles conform to the dimensions of the old handle.
The three measurements to check are the top screw's position, lever and key hole sizes. Use the size guide to assist you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle is a modern-day door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This type door handle is offered in a variety of styles & finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed of tough materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that need a heavy-duty design. The handles are inline and they utilize the same spindle and screws to secure them. They can be easily installed on any uPVC/Composite door.
The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be set and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This ensures that the quality of finish and performance will last for a long time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly useful in doors with smaller door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever can be used for doors with latches that can be opened by the thumb inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently than lever handles found on most doors. These handles are operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are usually used on UPVC double-glazed doors and come in many variations & styles.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including White chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with the best performance and durability for its intended purpose.
All UPVC handle lever pads include a spindle and screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a larger size of handle which is often a benefit in replacing a defective or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which can solve the issue of door handles that move out of the horizontal position when not in use.
When choosing the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is crucial to match the PZ dimensions of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement may also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.
After you have identified the proper PZ size and the correct PZ size, you must ensure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. These are typically a square or round shape with an internal lever and external push pad.
The majority of UPVC Lever Pads that we sell are spring-loaded. This means that they will return to a horizontal state when they are not in use instead of hanging, and possibly securing to the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from entering a property. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed versions that allow them to be placed on either side of doors.
Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are usually used on uPVC doors, but they can also be used on other types of door. Cylinder locks are operated by using a key that unlocks the cylinder case. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned to the pins in the lock, and permit them to rotate the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external doors usually needing different levels of security.
The selection of a cylinder is vital. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles will receive. For instance, doors that are external must be secured with an extra secure cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured with a standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features which can enhance security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in its position, you can remove it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.
The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. They are designed to minimize attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. upvc door handles will help to deflect attacks and protect your door.
There are also cylinders that are made to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common method of attack on cylinders, where the break line in the lock is targeted with a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is faster and less difficult than gaining access through multipoint locks. It also leaves little evidence of a burglary, which could hinder the insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette sits inside the base of the door handle backplate, providing a spring solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after use. The handles were previously equipped with no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was removed. This component is the best solution to address this issue. It also stops your door from getting stuck in the open or closed position since they aren't easy to close manually.
These spring cassettes have been specifically designed for use with multipoint locks sprung They will not work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will need to have a custom hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes in the door handle backplate of many brands of uPVC doors. They are fitted with a square cut-out that accommodates an 8mm spindle and they are supplied individually.
These spring cassettes are an excellent cost-effective way to fix the problem of your door handles that are sagging. They are simple to put in and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
